Our APS Whānau

Fiona Mackley —

He aha te mea nui o te ao? What is the most important thing in the world? He tangata, he tangata, he tangata. It is the people, it is the people, it is the people.

At APS we place genuine importance on our school whānau (students, staff, parents/caregivers, extended family and the wider community). This is because we acknowledge our ākonga do not just learn within the walls of school, and are cared for by many.

We believe in having an authentic three-way partnership- whānau (family), ākonga (learners) and kura (school) when it comes to knowing each child and how we can provide the best ako (teaching and learning) for them.

Our Ākonga (learners)

We have a school roll normally between 200-230 tamariki, all who shine in their own individual and unique ways. We are a full primary school from Year 0 - Year 8. We take pride in transitioning our tamariki successfully from early childhood to our school and we work hard to ensure they leave us fully prepared for high school.

Our School Community

The strong cornerstone of our kura (school) is our school community - from our whānau and extended families, to the many individuals and organisations whom we regard as our close school friends. When we are connected we are capable of great things.
