Our School Uniform

Fiona Mackley —

We would love to keep developing pride in the way we wear our school uniform and are recognised as ākonga (learners) of Alexandra Primary School while we are out and about in our local community.

Kaiako (teachers) have been talking to their classes about our expectations around our school uniform.

We would really like support from our families to ensure that the correct uniform is worn please.

Here are some guidelines:

  • Uniform items are all found at The Warehouse (except for the polar fleece which can be ordered online at https://www.mainlanduniforms.nz/en/179-alexandra-primary-school

  • If it is tricky to find shorts or pants that are a good fit please ensure that replacements are coloured navy (not black), to match our uniform.

  • Our PE top is only to be worn for sports events - it is not an option to wear it as part of our general uniform.

  • Navy or black socks please.

  • Sensible shoes or sandals - no crocs or jandals as these are not safe for physical activity.

  • Studs or plain sleep earrings - dangly earrings can be unsafe.

  • Cultural necklaces, e.g. pounamu or bone carvings are able to be worn but we discourage necklaces and bracelets etc that do not have a significant family connection.

  • Makeup is discouraged.

  • We are currently working on adding a hoodie to our uniform range. We hope that this will be a popular item, especially for our seniors to wear. There is a sample in our school office if you would like to view it.

Note: we are still waiting for the uniform company SchoolTex to change to our new school logo. Hopefully this will be in the very near future!

We are looking forward to holding mufti days each term so that our ākonga can express their individuality : )

*Our first mufti day is this Friday (7th February). Tamariki are welcome to wear their hapū colours for our Waitangi Day celebration activities.
