Amberley Principal —

Wow! What a great occasion the Book Character Day was with such an awesome turnout and  significant effort from a great many students. The winning teacher also as Gangster Granny with a huge sack of 'stolen cash' was Miss Robinson!

Well done to everyone. There really were some awesome outfits! The FAST also appreciates your support with the book fair and no doubt we will find out shortly how much Book Week raised.

Today (Friday) we have another visit from a Chinese delegation to look over Rewi. Rewi Alley was a significant member of the North Canterbury Community who went to China in 1927. He is remembered for the 'Gung Ho' movement and later for his work in ediucation, especially the provision / advocacy for the education of girls. His father was the Principal at Amberley School around 1905. Last year marked the 125th anniversary of his birth and this year. Thanks to Whaea Mik and the Kapa Haka group for putting on a welcome presentation and to the team in the office who organised the morning tea.

Our classes for 2024 are taking shape. we will have 9 classes the same as this year:

Moana - Tūpoupou (Year 7-8) and Kekeno (Year 7-8)
Kowai - Whio (Year 5-6) and Pateke (Year 4-5)
Te Ngahere - Kererū (Year 3-4), Korimako (Year 2-3) & Piwakawaka (Year1-2)
Maungatere - Ruru (Year 1) and Kea (New Entrants)

The teachers were published in our newsletter earlier in the term, however as you will realise we now have to fill spaces vacated by Whaea Mik and Miss Mitchell. Students will get the opportunity to meet their 2024 teacher before the school term ends.

I visited the Te Ngahere 'Sleepover' yesterday and what a fantastic time they were all having. After a scrumtious tea including Nachos they were out for a series of cooperative games on the court. The rain held off until it was time to go in and when I left they were getting ready for bed. Check out a few pictures below. Huge thanks to Miss Robinson for all her mahi and running this event so effectively. Some tired faces this morning!

Keep a look out for information on the "Big Day Out" This is being held on Thursday 14 December and we will need a lot of transport help. Watch HERO for more coming soon.

Finally have a great Christmas and holiday time. Remember Prize Giving is on Wednesday 13 December 6pm start in the Tin Shed.
