First Term Comes to an End
We've had a busy and exciting term, but we are still excited about two weeks holiday!
Term One has been action packed. Swimming has been a highlight for our students, and now that the swimming season is over we look forward to the remodelling of the Amberley Community Pool ready for next season. Exciting!
Our senior students have had some amazing outdoor education experiences over the summer. Kowai camp at Living Springs was amazing - our Year 5 and 6 students loved every minute of their time on Banks Peninsula. Our Year 8s enjoyed Surfing and Caving as part of their William Pike Challenge. On Wednesday they will climb Mount Grey with the whole Moana hub.
Fantastic FAST Team
Thank you for supporting our FAST team with their fundraising and social activities this term. We had our Easter Raffle and our Quiz Night - all raising funds for camps and also outdoor education equipment. We don't have a total yet, but the amounts raised were significant. We are grateful for your support.
Next term we launch our next Amberley Coupon book - with lots of new businesses on board. Look out for this - we will need your support to sell these to raise money for free stationery in 2022.
Taking Responsibility - please name EVERYTHING!
A lot of our day is spent supporting children to self manage. Lost hats, sweatshirts, scooters - our teachers and office staff would love to spend less time helping children find lost items, and more time on teaching and learning.
You MUST name your child's clothing clearly. If it has a name, we can find the owner quickly (and it is returned to them promptly). The same with scooters - Mr C has kindly offered to engrave names on these - it makes our job so much easier when we can find the owner quickly.
We ask that you support us with the rules around students bringing expensive items to school. Phones are to be handed in at the school office when they arrive, and are collected at the end of the day. Any student caught with a phone will get it confiscated and it can then only be collected by a parent from the school office. The same for scooters - if they are not put in a scooter rack (or if they are not being used in accordance with our rules) they are confiscated and must be collected by a parent. We appreciate your support here.
Reporting
Our online reporting format - Hero - contains everything you need to know about your child's progress and achievement. Did you know that there is a Hero app too? You can report an absence from the convenience of your phone. If you need help setting all this up, and getting access, see Katrina Shepherd in the office. She's our Hero expert!
Thank you to everyone who attended our learning conferences this week. Face to face meetings are part of our reporting process and it is really important for you to speak to your child's teacher to learn about how you can support their learning goals
Have a safe and relaxing weekend - we look forward to seeing our amazing students again in Term Two!
