Amberley School - an Amazing Team

Simon Green —

This term saw many opportunities for our children to shine. Behind the scenes we have amazing adults supporting our students and community.

Thank You

The photo attached to this article shows the organising team behind the inaugural Amberley Rellie Challenge (ARC). For those that came along on Sunday, you will appreciate the phenomenal effort that went into planning this fabulous community day. It was pretty incredible for a first effort and I know they are taking on board feedback to make it even better in 2019.

Any staff and students that took part on Sunday are invited to wear their ARC t-shirts to school on Friday, to celebrate the end of a fun term.

Thank you to our community for an amazing ten weeks. It was a busy one for our teachers and support staff. The production, ARC, and student reports have certainly kept our teachers busy for many hours outside of school time. They deserve the two week break (even though many will be back at school setting up new learning spaces!). Thank you to our parents for your incredible support this term too. Production costumes, basketball coaching, transport, parent helpers - you all make this school a success.

Reports

On Friday your child will take home their second report for the year. As mentioned in previous newsletters, we have changed our reporting from Mid Year / End of Year to End of Term 1 and End of Term 3.  We believe this gives you and your children time to process and action some of the goals and next steps that are identified. You will be given the opportunity to make an interview time with your teacher for the 23rd or 24th October if you would like to discuss any aspects of the report. These are optional interviews and, of course, you are always welcome to make an appointment to talk with your child's teacher any time in any term.

Building Update

The builders are working hard and we are still on track to open next term. It's looking amazing. We are planning on having our first assembly of term four in the new space - it would be great for you to come along on Friday 19th October at 9am. Stay for a cuppa afterwards and check out our new-look library.

Teacher Only Day - change of date

There will be a Teacher Only Day on Monday 5th November. This is for our teachers to attend professional development along with 13 others schools in our district. Initially we advised it was the 19th October, but this was an error on our part. Our apologies for the confusion here

Calendar Fundraiser

Our FAST team have been busy working on a local history calendar as a major fundraiser. It looks amazing and went to print this week. Next term each family will receive three calendars to sell. You are welcome to sell more of course, but we are hoping that if each family does their part, we can collectively raise a lot of money. Local businesses have come on board and each month has a major sponsor which has helped cover printing costs. Thank you to Laura Cropper and Andrew Botting who have been working with the Kowai Archives on this. Also thanks to Jenny Yates, our 'historian in residence' for her expert proofreading skills. More information will come to you early next term.

Have a safe and enjoyable holiday everyone. Next term will fly by very quickly. It is a nine week term, and three of those weeks are shortened due to public holidays or a teacher only day. The Warehouse has started selling advent calendars  - so Christmas mustn't be too far away!
