Simon Green —

Summer is officially over, but there's plenty to look forward too at Amberley School in the coming weeks.

Community Kindness

Sometimes we take manners and kindness for granted. We are working hard to model and teach kindness to our students, particularly the understanding that sometimes you do something because it's the right thing to do, not because you will get something out of it. There is a challenge for all our families in the newsletter this week - how will you respond?

The parents that came to our whole school assembly on Friday would have seen the lovely, positive message of kindness that was promoted.

Road Safety

Like many parents, the team at Amberley School are always concerned about the safety of our tamariki as they travel to and from school. I attended a Hurunui Road Safety meeting last week and highlighted the concerns Amberley School has around our children crossing the state highway (main road through Amberley). If your children walk/bike/scoot to school without an adult, are you sure your children they have the road sense to cross this road safely? Take some time to talk to them, and in the meantime we are working on a few strategies in the wider community to keep our kids safe. Close to school. please ensure you and your children cross at the designated Road Safety Crossing to avoid the dangerous traffic that passes our school each day.

Uniform

The Warehouse is still selling our 'old logo' uniform until it has sold out (then the new stock comes in) School Sweatshirts with the old logo go on sale for 50% at the Warehouse on today. www.thewarehouse.co.nz/c/amberley-school

School Photos

These will be taken on Friday of this week. If you would like a family portrait, be sure to let the office know (as per the newsletter article this week).

FAST Team (Amberley School's PTA)

Our parent support team is in desperate need of some new blood. Our amazing long standing 'chairwoman' Janel is stepping down after many years of service. If you're interested in helping out (and it doesn't have to be a big commitment) then come along to the staffroom on Tuesday 13th March at 7pm. Come and hear about our plans for 2018 and beyond and be part of an exciting and fun little group.

As always, thank you for your support. I am always available to make a time to chat with any parents who have questions or concerns about what is happening at Amberley School.
