Moana Hub Camp 2016
This year the Moana Hub classes had their camp at the YMCA Camp in Wainui.
The students from Moana Hub spent 3 days at Powell Village at YMCZ Wainui. They participated in many exciting activities and had many awesome experiences.
Thank you to Kirsten Eggleston for the images from camp.
Camp Reflection
The strain on my fingers was killing me, I lined up a bullseye, let go, OWW! The string hits the inside of my elbow. That’s what happened to me on school camp- didn’t get the bullseye though.
My highlights for camp were:
Orienteering because Charlie, Tiaki and I came first out of two activity groups and the reward for a finished sheet of accurate symbols was a sour gummy worm.
Kayaking because I was in a two seater kayak with Paul Reese and during the race to get to the beach we came first because of Paul, thank you.
Archery, yes I did get hurt a little but I did get mostly red scores, (the yellow was the bullseye then it went red, blue, black then white) a few blues and one black.
My low light for camp was:
Sleeping in a room full of “whispering” when I was trying to get to sleep.
For me the most interesting thing on camp was:
Coasteering because I learnt how to tell a male crab from a female crab and also it was super fun.

Camp reflection
Hard out paddling on the double kayak racing to the front of the pack, we were almost there, then out of nowhere a kayak comes flying past us ZOOM.
On the 2.3.16 we arrived at school covered in bags. We put our bags in the horse float. And set off for Wainui.
The highlights were running up and down the creek with jack, until I fell in, the shirt I was wearing was weighing me down like a anchor and my shoes had water pouring out of them so I stopped running for a while. Kicking was the next best thing elijah and I did doubles. We played some games in the kick and then we had some challenges, we stood up and did head shoulders knees and toes, we also jumped off the kick and also flipped off it. We raced to shore and packed the kaiaks on the trailer and headed back to camp. Archery was so much fun shooting at the haystack, we played the game where, who, how I went to Hawaii with Bart Simpson on a motorbike! I got two bullseyes on the target, when I got home I asked for a bow.
