From the Principal

Simon Green - June 9, 2016

Wow, it's hard to believe we are over halfway through term two already!

I've been very proud of all the amazing opportunities presented to our students over the past six weeks. I'm especially proud of the way our children have approached these learning experiences and challenges. The recent Fun Run and Cross Country were excellent examples of this. Amazing determination and perseverance shown by every student.

Over the last fortnight I have been fortunate to attend some leadership opportunities with some of our student leaders. The Young Leaders Day (http://www.nyldnz.org/) was inspirational for a selection of our Year 8 students. We also had children attend two Future Focused Leaders days which involved collaboration with student leaders from other local North Canterbury schools (pictured above).

Over the last week we had confirmation of our new Board of Trustees. I'm looking forward to working alongside this team to develop the strategic direction of Amberley School. As I said in an email earlier this term, you have an opportunity to contribute to this later in the year when we undergo community consultation.

I'm really enjoying meeting our parent community and love the way you contribute to our school. Whether on the FAST team (PTA), assisting with Home Learning, transporting children to and from school events, or giving your time and amazing expertise to our Friday afternoon privilege sessions, your contribution is appreciated and helps make Amberley School such an awesome place.

Thanks for your continued support.
