Amberley School finishing the year in style.
Amberley School has achieved Bronze Enviroschools status!
Congratulations
We are very proud of our kura (school) to have been recognised for the mahi (work) we are doing around environmental education. Andrea and Matt from Enviroschools spent the morning with our Enviroteam (under the guidance of Mrs Heeman). There are a lot of people that have helped us on the journey: Mrs Heeman, Whaea Suzi, Amanda, Serina, Pete, Gordon and so many more...
Bronze is the first stage in our journey. The next step is Silver and then 'Green Gold'. Our team are committed to this long term goal - there are some amazing projects lined up for the next few years.
Lego Show. Everything is Awesome!
A massive thank you to the organising team: Mike Clemens, Claire Cameron, Andrew Botting, Tony Fountaine. This was something brave and new for us. We raised over $3000 for our school, and we have built (excuse the pun) great relationships with Lego NZ, Toyworld and the Christchurch Lego Users Group. The feedback has been amazing and now we want to grow this event annually. Thank you to everyone who supported this - we would love your support again next year.
Scholastic Book Fair
Let me begin by saying - our Janel Murray is an absolute star! Janel put considerable time and energy into ensuring our annual book fair was a massive success. We sold more books, and therefore earned more books for our own library, than last year. Once again, I thank you for your support of this fundraising initiative. We ask a lot of our community - and I want you to know we appreciate it. Oh, and the dress ups on book character week were outstanding this year. Every year we are blown away by the originality of the costumes. We even had a whole 'Wally' family with Mum, Dad, Grandma and little Wally junior!
Coupon Book Sales = Free Stationery for our students!
We just need to sell a few more to achieve our goal. Coupon Books are available from Arthurs Burkes, Envisage and the School Office for $20. The coupon books are full of incredible savings from local businesses and retailers. These would make a wonderful Christmas present. Remember that money raised from these books is going towards paying for every child’s stationery in 2020.
Don't forget the dates!
Monday 16th - our prizegiving at the Tin Shed at 6pm
Tuesday 17th - Big Day Out at Waipara
Wednesday 18th - School finishes at 12.20pm
Thank you for your continued support.
Simon
