"Where and Wai?"
In Kowai hub we have begun thinking about our topic, "Where and Wai?" We have been brainstorming uses for water in our lives and writing about what water means to us.
Here are some articles written by Jasmine, Lizzy C, Choe and Marley, describing what water means to them.
What water means to me! by Jasmine
Water means a lot to me! So does drinking water. Water keeps me alive and hydrated. Without water everything would be different. Not many people would be here. I probably wouldn't be here!
Animals need water, without water they would die very quickly!
I like drinking water it helps when I am sweaty and helps keep me warm when I put it in a hot water bottle!
Water gives homes to animals, gives us all electricity, food, milk and much, much more! Without electricity we would be all cold and really hungry.
Without water your brain doesn't work properly and makes us do silly things!
Water gives us snow so we can look at it or have a snowball fight against family or friends!
I use water to water my plants AKA blackberries, strawberries, raspberries, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower and much much more. I love my veges, so should you! Life is boring without a little bit of fruit! But to get fruit, veges and more you need water! So stop wasting water now and help me save the environment today!
Imagine suddenly running out of water? Well, if you don't stop wasting water we will lose all that water. I know most people love water so why are you wasting it? I really don't understand!
What water means to me. by Lizzy C
Water is important to me because we drink it and if we don't we will die of dehydration.
Water is important to me because on a hot summer day I can jump into the pool.
Water is important to me because without water there would be no water for us to have a shower.
Water is important to me because we would have long lasting dirty clothes. Water is important to me because you can swim in the water. Water is important to me because you can go fishing and there is lots of fish.
Water is important to me because farm animals drink water to survive, otherwise there would be no milk from cows.
What water means to me. by Chloe
Water is important to me because I hate being dirty and a shower fixes all that. Also if we did not have water we would be dead of dehydration. What would you do if you had to put on dirty clothes every day but the water in the washing machine cleans all of your clothes.
Wouldn't you be bored if there was no swimming pools and hydroslides and you would be very hot. If we did not have water there would be no electricity and no wifi (I WILL DIE) and you will not be able to watch TV. How would you feel if you had to go everywhere with dirty hands and germs on your hands?
Water and Me. by Marley
Imagine canoeing on sand, at this rate in 20 odd years you will be. You know Rarotonga, the amazing holiday destination. Rarotonga is VERY low on clean water. Continue reading this article to help protect the water and life on Earth.
I am only 9 and already know how to help the ecosystem. Water is very important. Water can feed plants, pets, your skin and you!
By our skin I mean without water you would be dirty, in the manky things there might be bacteria, bacteria will eat you and make you sick. By plants I mean plants drink. "What?!" "Yeah!" Plants drink, and you need to eat your veges and meat. By pets I include farm animals (yummy dinners), like you they drink.
By you I seriously mean ... you. You need to drink it can help your brain. On hot days I recommend lots of water (you might sweat!)
SO without water there is no hydration. No food. No you! To help water start by using a timer on your showers and recycling grey water. SAVE the planet. SAVE yourself.
