Two more weeks left in Term Two

Simon Green —

The learning continues - do you remember cuisenaire rods from your childhood learning? I bet you can still remember what number corresponds to each colour too!

Our last day of the term is Friday 3rd July, which makes the term twelve weeks long. Despite the distance learning impacting on the start of term, we are noticing children (and teachers!) are getting  tired and more susceptible to illness and injury. Today 20% of our children were absent - the majority with sore throats and colds. We really appreciate you keeping your children at home when they are unwell. We all need to look after ourselves.

Teacher Only Day last Friday

Thank you for supporting our teacher only day last week. This was a valuable opportunity for our teachers to receive professional development around our new assessment and reporting tool (HERO) as well as upskilling ourselves on Digital Technologies. We know that Teacher Only Days make it tough for working parents, but the feedback we had was that this was a very timely 'long weekend' for our families.

Reporting and Parent Interviews

Over half of you have already booked interview times for your child next week. Thank you. Remember to head here to make your booking. It is really important that you come to these meetings - our reporting is completely online now, which aligns with most other schools (and also High Schools). There will be an opportunity for you to learn how to login to see your child's full report if you are unsure already. A reminder that school finishes at 12.30pm next Monday and Tuesday to allow for these interviews.

Quiz Night - Friday July 3rd 7.30pm

Just over a week remains to purchase tickets to the Amberley School Quiz.

Last years first School Quiz Night was a huge success. Lots of fun, laughter and musing. With the bar set so high hopefully this year will not disappoint. Over $8,600 was raised last year – all of it going to the school.

What is guaranteed is plenty of laughs, prizes, auctions, raffles and no doubt some quizzical looks!

You don’t need to be a quiz whizz to win. Get a few together and purchase tickets from either the School Office or Sally Macs during business hours. Teams of 4 -6.

Tickets $15 each (includes light supper) close end of Monday 29th. Doors open 6.45pm for a 7.30pm start.
