Sports News

Simon Green —

There has been lots of sporting success for Amberley students recently.

Football

Today our team in the Twilight Football competition play their last game of this comp. They are unbeaten (at the time of writing this) and this is thanks to huge determination from our great wee team, as well as excellent coaching from JD, and superb management from Rochelle. Hopefully the team will be able to reunite for the Term 4 competition!

Basketball

Last wee was the final round of the Friday night competition. Our children LOVE basketball, and we are grateful to the coaches and managers that make this possible for our children. Thanks also to Erin for overseeing the Amberley School teams.

Please return basketball tops by this Wednesday (12th April) or unfortunately you may incur a small charge.

Swimming

As we head into winter, it's easy to forget that swimming competitions were still underway last week. We had a dedicated team of 8 children that represented Amberley School at the Canterbury Swimming champs last Thursday. Though we didn't have any top three placings, this was an amazing experience for our swimmers. Check out our relay team in the photo above!

Cross Country

Yep, next term we start training for the annual cross country. Love it or hate it, it's great for our children to keep fit! Super keen children might like to start thinking about their training over the holidays.

Badminton

Cool to see that something local is starting up. Badminton starts May 1st on Mondays at the Leithfield School Hall.

Primary School 3.30-4.30pm

High School/Seniors 7-9pm

Cost: $2 per session

Come along and have a social hit, meet some people, get some exercise, and have a laugh. There are some badminton racquets available to use if you do not have your own. $2 covers hall hire and shuttle replacement. Email Dale if you have any queries dale@leithfield.school.nz
