Connecting with China - Room 10 have been corresponding with our pen pals in China.
Our Year 8 leadership class have pen pals. This connection has come about with our connection with Mr Tee in China. Everyone in Room 10 has a pen pal to connect with. Pen pals use to write to each other to connect. Now with Technology our students connect via email. Room 10 have been very impressed with the letters they are receiving regularly. We are learning lots about China and what daily life is like for our pen pals aged 9-10 years. We are more richer for learning about other cultures.
Here is a sample from Riley's pen pal
Hi Riley,
Hope you are well!
Today I’m going to briefly talk about my weekend to you although I had a boring weekend :)
I had a soccer training on Friday afternoon with Tom(Leo’s pen pal), Branson(Lola’s pen pal) and Jaylen(James’s pen pal) and other kids, it was a fun afternoon in the field but when we finished, we were tired like a marathon runner at the end of the track.
On Saturday I went to a park for an one on one soccer lesson, then I wrote my homework on my dad’s car, Mr. Taylor told me that you don’t have homework just have a little practice……
On Sunday which was not very boring, I went to a soccer match, the first match was 2 to 2 and the second match was 6 to 1…… WE ARE 6! We felt really good beating the other team with flying color!
On Sunday after lunch, me and my mom went to watch a movie called: How to Train Your Dragon 3. Man, that movie is soooooooooo awesome, but think thats the last movie of this series. : (
At the afternoon on Sunday, the homework attacked me again and again, I kept thinking about playing but when I stop thinking, I sighed.
“LAST WORD TO WRITE GREG!” I murmured to myself, “KEEP IT UP……… YES, FINISHED!!!” I closed my homework and shoved it into my bag “Woohoo!” I rushed to my mom’s room and yelled “I’m finished, now can I go to play outside?”
Mom answered: “Yep and when you come b……”I run outside before she could even finish talking.
That was my weekend, how was your weekend?
Take a look at James's message from his pen pal Jaylen
Hi James!
Let me briefly tell you what I did in my weekend.
On Friday, when our school ended my best friend (in school) Tom and I went to soccer training with our coach and our team mates. When we finished the training my 2nd best friend (in school) River and I had dinner together at my house and then played together.
On Saturday night I went to my best friend (in my community) Ted’s house and played on the XBOX.
On Sunday morning I went to a soccer league with my team mates from my school. In the first game the scored should have been 2:1 to us, but a player from the other team pushed my team mate Greg but he fell over himself. Even though he faked it the referee still thought Greg fouled him so the referee gave the other team a free kick and they scored. So the game ended 2:2. The second game was interesting. We scored 6 goals but we could have scored more because we had many one on one chances with the goalie and missed a lot of goals.
And thats my wonderful weekend. Thanks for reading.
