Netball 2025 - Season Highlights

Amelia Prendeville —

After two amazing terms of Netball here are the season highlights!

These teams could have not gone ahead without the coaches / managers. A big thank you to Raman, Jennifer, Jenny, Payal, Komal & Srinika for the work you did to make these teams run.

Year 1/2 team - Amesbury Aces

Amesbury Aces, the youngest netball players had a wonderful season. On Friday evening with a big smile & enthusiasm, the young players practiced in the school hall and participated in the Saturday games. It was good to see the team have fun playing together, learn co-ordination skills & develop team spirit over the time. These skills were taught through fun activities to make each session enjoyable for the young players. As a parent coach it was pleasing to see their first step towards the Netball journey. The same enthusiasm could be seen in parents as they supported the young players hone the skills.

Ka Pai Amesbury Aces!

Year 3/4 team - Amesbury Diamonds

This season has been an incredible journey for the Amesbury Diamonds, full of growth, teamwork and determination. The players have shown great improvement in their skills, communication, and confidence on the court. Whether it was rain or shine, they turned up with enthusiasm and gave their best effort in every game. Most importantly, they supported one another, showed great sportsmanship and had fun. Well done Amesbury Diamonds!

Year 5 - Amesbury Ferns

For this year's 2025 netball season, one of Amesbury’s Year 5 netball teams was the Amesbury Ferns, which consisted of Aayzhia, Ana, Angela, Dinuli, Ilsa, Mia, and Yamuna. The season ran from the beginning of May through to the end of August. For many of the players it was their second year on court, while a couple were playing their very first season.

Despite a cold and wet winter, the Ferns showed wonderful commitment, turning up each week for practices and giving it their all on Saturday game days. Over the season, the players put in the mahi consistently to develop their individual skills and to work together as a team. We’re incredibly proud of their effort, teamwork, and their perseverance through the tougher moments.

Several of the Ferns also joined forces to form a Year 5/6 Amesbury team that entered the Northern Suburbs Tournament, where they not only played their hearts out but also came away as winners in the finals!

Here is what some of the players in the Amesbury Ferns enjoyed about playing netball:

  • Ana enjoyed playing in centre and shooting the ball

  • Isla liked shooting and defending

Year 5/6 - Amesbury Whetū

It has been a great season for Amesbury Whetū. The girls bonded and enjoyed some challenging and fun netball together. The Year 6 girls, Maleta, Micke, Peyton & Shiloh led and pushed their Year 5 teammates, Aira, Alana, Bella & Zara to play in the Year 6 grade with grit and determination.

Here are what the players in Amesbury Whetū thought about playing netball:

  • Zara really loved how they got the ball a lot

  • Shiloh loved doing long throws of the ball with Peyton

Year 5/6 Tournament Team

A massive congratulations to our tournament team made up of players from both the Amesbury Ferns and Amesbury Whetū. They went the whole tournament undefeated and went on to win the Year 5/6 grade! Tino Pai girls!
