Share and Celebrate Term 4 Week 9

Jenny King —

Share & Celebrate is an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the achievements of our ākonga/students.

We love shining a spotlight on our ākonga (students) who embody the Amesbury High Five values throughout the week. Recognizing the effort they put into a tough task, the fantastic leadership they show, or the thoughtful ways they support our school community is a real highlight for us!

If your child has had a success that you'd like us to mention in our Share & Celebrate, please email the details directly to their whānau teacher.

A huge ka pai (well done) and thank you to our wonderful student leaders, Adam and John, for organizing and leading this special time today.

Congratulations to all of the students listed below, there sure is a long list of things to celebrate today!

Basti: Fabulous leadership organising a year 6 game of capture the flag at the end of the transition day into town. You are a natural leader and a good listener, Basti.

Alofa: Some Māwhero ākonga had a friendship problem last week. By the time I arrived to solve the problem, you had already helped. Well done on being a fantastic leader.

Hayden S: On Thursday, we did origami with the class. Thank you Hayden for being an amazing leader and helping others with their origami. Your origami skills are amazing!

Lubanzi: We have been really impressed with you during EOTC week and transition week. You stepped outside of your comfort zone and made new friends. You also showed patience and kindness towards them when solving friendship problems as well. Well done Lubanzi!

Justin L: You have made amazing progress in your language skills this year Justin. During a whānau activity, you were able to communicate to me the difference in saying whether you own something now or in the past - this is great progression in your speaking skills. Well done Justin!

Aradhya: Aradhya, you have shown great kindness to all those in the hub and it has especially shown in transition week. You patiently wait and gently talk to your friends and new buddies consistently. You also cheer everyone on when they have given something a go. Thank you for being a wonderful friend.

Lashika: Lashika was being a really kind friend to someone who was upset, while I was on duty. She made a huge effort to chat to them, and cheer them up. Other tamariki are lucky to have such a lovely friend, Lashika!

Kiyaan S: A number of adults noticed how polite you were during our EOTC week.  Every time you asked for help or were given something, you would politely say: “thank you very much”.

Jospeh: You showed great care when one of our ākonga had a bloody nose.  You kept checking in on her while also ensuring the kaiako were aware of what was happening.  What a kind and caring person you are.

Miesha, Peyton, Micke, Basti, Annabel and Justin W: Thank you for helping with the junior athletics carnival. You all did an amazing job leading groups to each station and helping the younger student. Ka pai!

Mira: We were very impressed with you during the cultural festival. You performed the pasifika dance with a smile on your face and you knew all the actions, with only having a few practices. Tino pai!

Ben: During EOTC week, you demonstrated excellent leadership and helpfulness. You guided younger students by showing them which materials to use and how to create animal patterns for their projects. You completed your own creation efficiently and went beyond expectations by assisting teachers with tidying up and supporting other students who needed help. Ka pai.

Mikah, Oscar, Nellie and Luke: During EOTC week, you were very helpful while in the classroom and while we were out on our trips. You were listening, focused and helping with the other students in the group. Thank you for being a big help to the teacher. Tino pai!

Yamuna, Mia, Isla, Angela Y, and Alana S: Thank you girls for helping out during EOTC week by putting the sand pit toys away one day. You didn’t even use them but were happy to do it

Aashrith and Xavier: For helping Nic and Anna transport our plants up the hill after our session at the Botanic Gardens. Thank you!

Children’s University Students: A mighty congratulations on the Children’s University participants this year. They showed evidence of their learning outside of school and recorded their hours as they progressed this year. Well done learners - we are very proud of your continued learning outside of school!

Road Patrollers: A huge thank you from Navy to the Term 4 road patrollers. You have been reliable, organised, sorted out cover for your day when required and been awesome while on the crossing. You are doing a fabulous job of keeping our ākonga safe.

As you move on to intermediate, remember the skills you’ve learned here—your voice, your expression, your ability to stand tall and communicate clearly—these will follow you wherever you go. I am proud of how far you’ve come and excited for all the amazing things you will do next. Congratulations, Year 6. You have been a delight to teach. Maneesha
