Our Amesbury School Board
Our School Board is made up of a small group of parents, our principal and a representative of the school staff. Together, this group is charged with the governance of Amesbury School, and with ensuring that the school is operating in a way that ensures all students are effectively cared for and supported to achieve their full potential.
This year, a key focus for our school board is that there is clear and effective communication between our board and our community, including our staff. This starts off with knowing who are board members are and how we can contact them.
Our school board members are:
- Anna Whitehead - presiding member (chairperson). Anna has two boys, James and Ollie, in Koru Hub.
- Chris Dey - co-deputy presiding member. Chris has two tamariki at Amesbury School, Kyle in Pōhutukawa Hub, and Emmett in Koru Hub.
- Trejan Perera - co-deputy presiding member. Trejan's daughter, Shenaya, is in Pōhutukawa Hub, and his wife, Maneesha, is one of our co-curricular teachers.
- Poornima Ranchhod - co-opted board member. Poornima's two boys have been ākonga at Amesbury School. Ishaan is now a year 8 student at Newlands Intermediate, and Anish is in Koru Hub.
- Kris Love - co-opted board member. Kris is a member of our Māori Whānau group, and he represents this group on our school board. All four of his boys have been through Amesbury School, and he currently has Ryker in Koru Hub and Jayden in Pōhutukawa Hub. Kris's wife, Nic, is a teacher aide at school.
- Mike Watt - board member. Mike is our newest board member, having joined the board several weeks ago. Mike has two tamariki at Amesbury School, Rufus in Pōhutukawa Hub, and Regan, also known as Mei Mei, in Koru Hub.
- Rupert Webb - staff representative. Along with Mike, Rupert has very recently joined the board, representing the wider staff at school. Rupert teaches in Pōhutukawa Hub, and also has a son, Monty, in the hub.
- Urs Cunningham - principal. As principal, I am also a member of the school board.
There is more information about our board members on our board page on the school website. You can click on the photograph of each member to see a more detailed bio about them.
The Amesbury board has a school email, bot@amesbury.school.nz, where they can be contacted by parents and whānau. They are also happy for you to come and have a chat with them at any point. If you have any questions about the school, issues you would like to raise, or you are interested in being involved with the school board in any way, let myself or any board members know.
Ngā mihi,
The Amesbury School Board
