Tawa and Kakariki Trip
As part of our Term 3 science inquiry ‘Living for a Protected New Zealand’ around our native flora and fauna, all students will be going on a trip. Kakariki and Tawa will be visiting Zealandia and Te Papa to see the new Te Taiao exhibition. The trip will be in Week 4 on Tuesday 13th August.
For this trip, we will be going in learning groups rather than hub teams. Please see the attached list as to whether your child is in Kakariki learning group or Tawa learning group. These learning groups are a mix of Year 2, 3 and 4 students.
Students will need to be at school at 8:30am, ready to leave on the bus at 9:00am to make it to our locations in time. We will return to with the intention of getting back by 3:00pm; however, there is a chance that we may be 5 or so minutes later. Kakariki and Tawa will be split into two groups. One group visit Zealandia in the morning, followed by Te Papa in the afternoon; the other will go to Te Papa first, followed by Zealandia.
The cost for the trip will be $16.50 per child. Parents will be invoiced for the cost of the trip through their account in the online shop. All students will need to wear school uniform for the trip, and we strongly recommend that they have a named drink bottle in their bag. Students will need a well stocked lunch box, as trip days tend to make children really hungry and we will be going for a walk at Zealandia! Please do not place a lunch order for your child that day as we will not be at school at lunchtime.
What to bring:
School bag, water bottle, lunch box, fleece and a raincoat. Please dress for the changeable weather as we will be walking outside at Zealandia.
We have a number of free adult places for this trip and we would love to have whānau joining us as additional support for this exciting trip. We will need enough adults that we have 1 adult to 4 students. This is Zealandia's expectation and it will also lead to being able to do some great exploration at both Zealandia and Te Papa. If you are keen to join us on this exciting trip, please contact Georgia (georgia@amesbury.school.nz) as a Kakariki parent or Kristen (kristen@amesbury.school.nz) as a Tawa parent if you are able to help out on this day. We will need to know as soon as possible. Please let us know by Tuesday (6 August) 5pm.
If you have any questions about the trip, please contact Georgia or Kristen. We are looking forward to an exciting trip.
Warm regards,
Kakariki and Tawa
