Interzone Athletics

Demelza Topp —

On Tuesday, eight students from Amesbury School went to Newtown Park to compete at Interzone Athletics. This is a tough competition with the best primary school athletes from each zone in Wellington coming together to compete.

Firstly, congratulations to Skieff, Dana, Nishanth, Gerhard, Lucas, James, Liam and Andy. You have shown so much enthusiasm and determination and we are very proud of the top-notch effort you each put into your events. Tino pai rawa atu (Excellent)!

A further congratulations to Skieff for finishing second in vortex. With this performance, he has qualified for Regional Athletics next Tuesday. All the best for the next round, Skieff, We look forward to hearing your results.

One other result that we would like to mention is the Year 4 boys relay team, who also finished second. It was an exciting finish with our boys just holding out the third-place team. Unfortunately, only the first-place relay teams move on to Regionals, which means they are currently reserves.

The final note is to thank the parents, grandparents and siblings who came out to support and transport our amazing athletes. We would also like to say a big thank you to Kieron who spent another day at the track (not that he was complaining) making sure everyone got to their events on time.
