Transition for Term 3

Urs Cunningham —

We have students from Te Rito Hub and Koru Hub who will be transitioning through to a new hub for Terms 3 and 4.

We have 12 students from Te Rito Hub who will be moving through to  Koru Hub, and 16 students from Koru Hub moving on to Harakeke Hub. We are comfortable that all students moving on are ready for the change and will settle in well in their new learning space. You will have been notified already if your child is moving.

To help with a smooth and happy transition we will be moving students through to their new hub on Thursday next week - the final week of school.  All students who are on the move will begin the day on Thursday in their current hub. They will have time to say goodbye to their current teachers and peers, and their friends will then farewell them. Teachers will then take the students on to their new hub, where they will spend the rest of Thursday and all of Friday. When coming to school on Friday, students who are moving can go straight to their new hub.

On those two transition days next week students will be able to settle into the routines of their new hub. They will learn where their bag space and tote trays are, where they meet for whanau time, and who their teachers are for some key learning times.

On Monday of Week 2 next term (Monday 31st July) there will be a transition afternoon tea in Koru Hub and Harakeke Hub from 3-3:30 pm. This is where parents and whanau of students who have moved through to a new hub can come and meet the teachers in their child's new hub. This will be an informal gathering - no speeches or presentations, just a chance to introduce yourself, have a chat and let your child show you their new hub.

We are looking forward to watching students settle and flourish in their new learning environments, and we hope we have a chance to meet and chat with many of you at the transition afternoon tea.

Warm regards,

The Amesbury team
