iTime in Harakeke Hub

Natalie Douglas —

In Term 3 we have been working on supporting ākonga to build ownership of their learning.

A part of being in Harakeke Hub is developing skills to support your transition into Pōhutukawa Hub. One part of this is an increase of independent learning.

We decided that a good way to do this was through iTime. iTime is what we call independent time where students have tasks to complete by themselves. We provided them with a checklist and would ensure that we went and provided feedback.

Our Journey of Growth and Development on Hero has a section called continuous learning, within this is a goal; Focus on my learning whether and adult is present or not. We have found iTime to be a successful way for most students to take ownership of their learning and are looking forward to seeing how this continues throughout their learning journey.
