Amesbury School Poetry Competition 2024!

Hannah Sadler —

The Amesbury School Poetry Competition is back for its third year!

We know that we have many creative writers in our local community, and so we have created  an opportunity for ākonga who love poetry to connect and share with other like minded tamariki.

The competition calls for tamariki to write a poem in any style at all about any subject that interests them. All poems need to be submitted by 5 pm on Monday 18th November (start of week 6 of the term). Submissions are to be sent online or by paper to Hannah, hannah@amesbury.school.nz

Poems will be judged in three categories: year 1-2, year 3-4, and year 5-6. There will be a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each year group category. A poetry reading will be held on Monday 2nd of December from 5 - 6pm, to announce the winners and to share some of the fabulous poetry submitted.

To enter for the competition, or to ask any questions about the competition, please email hannah@amesbury.school.nz. To register for the competition, please fill in this short registration form.

If your child loves writing and poetry, and enjoys the chance to share their writing with others, this is a fabulous opportunity for them. It is also a good way for ākonga who have an interest in poetry to connect both within and across the two schools.
