Paid union meetings for teachers in Term 1 2023

Urs Cunningham —

Teachers and principals are currently renegotiating their Collective Agreements, and the primary sector, represented by NZEI (New Zealand Educational Institute), will be holding paid union meetings in Term 1 within school time that all members must attend.

For primary kaiako (teachers), these meetings will be taking place across the country in the next few weeks. For our area, the meetings are being held on Monday 27th and Tuesday 28th February in the afternoon.

Amesbury School kaiako will be attending these meetings across both of these days, in order to minimise disruption and keep learning happening for tamariki. On both afternoons, some kaiako will attend the meeting, and some kaiako will stay in the hubs and will be joined by leaders and non-union members, meaning the learning programmes will continue as usual.

As we go through the term we will be communicating with parents and whānau about the campaigns that are happening. The campaigns will be focused around ensuring we get the resourcing needed to provide your tamariki with the learning and support they need to fulfil their potential.

Nga mihi,

the Amesbury team
