Harakeke Camp Information #1

Sonali Singh Nandra —

This is the initial information for Harakeke Hub’s EOTC week AND overnight stay at school. Included in this notice is a consent form to complete.

CAMP INFORMATION

This year’s Education outside the classroom (EOTC) week includes all current year 2, 3 and 4 students in Harakeke Hub.

Where & When:

The EOTC week runs from Monday 5th December to Friday 9th December.

  • Monday - Wednesday of camp week will include opt-in activities and whole hub activities for students during normal school hours- 9.00am to 3.00pm.

  • EOTC week will include a day trip - further information about this trip will be provided in the next notice.

  • Additionally, there will be a walk to Churton Park Reserve throughout the week. We are still confirming the date for this.

  • On Thursday Harakeke Hub will have an overnight camp at school. Those students staying over will return to school at 5pm (in non uniform) with their overnight gear. We will have a shared dinner together and then sleep over night in the hub.

  • On Friday 9th December, we will have a shared breakfast and get ready for the day, with students who have stayed over.

  • The children who do not stay overnight can arrive back at school from 8:30am. Children do not have to wear their uniform for the day on the Friday.

Camp Cost:

We are still confirming costs for this camp. Overnight stayers cost will include day trip costs, dinner on Thursday and breakfast, morning tea, and lunch on Friday. Costs for students not staying over will cover day trip costs.

If you do not want your child to take part in the overnight stay, they will still take part in the daytime activities and day trip. If your child changes their mind and wants to stay overnight, we will not be able to make changes to this from Friday 12th November.

Parent help and consent form:

Here is the camp consent link. Please complete this form for your child/ren by Sunday the 30th of October (if you have more than one child, please fill in a separate form for each child).

As always parent help is needed and greatly appreciated for camp to go ahead. In previous years there has been a big response to assisting with camp. While we would love to include everyone, costs and space prevent us from doing so - we have a maximum number of additional parents we are able to take on camp with us.

We will notify all parents who have expressed an interest in attending the camp to let you know of our final decision. All parents attending school camps are required to undergo NZ Police Vetting. We will contact those parents who are selected to attend to obtain their consent to carry out the vetting process as this process takes 6 weeks to complete.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Natalie (natalie@amesbury.school.nz).

Warm regards,

Harakeke Hub Team
