Celebrating Our Ākonga

The great mahi, leadership, and kindness just keep on coming! It’s awesome seeing our ākonga shine both in the hubs and in the playground as we settle into the term.

A big shout-out and thank you to Charlotte and Lauren’s buddy whānau group for being such awesome hosts this week.

If your child has achieved something special outside of school, drop a quick email to their whānau teacher so we can celebrate!

Ka rawe to all our students this week. Mahi tika ana! Wonderful effort, everyone!

Isla, Alana, Yamuna, Ana, and Rufus: Well done to these students for their quick thinking in responding to the fire in Pōhutukawa hub. They did the right thing and alerted a kaiako as soon as they noticed what was happening. This helped ensure the right actions happened and the building was quickly evacuated. Thank you for your diligence and being so calm in the face of adversity; we are really proud of you!

Yool: You consistently choose to do what's best for your learning every single day. Whether it's tidying up quickly, staying on task, challenging yourself, or ignoring distractions around you, you always give it your best. Ka pai for all your hard work!

Ella H, Lukas, Christopher, Kaia, and Zion: Thank you for being such brilliant inquiry thinkers. You all often take the time to formulate thoughtful hypotheses, make great learning choices and, bringing your best effort to every task. Ka rawe for your efforts.

Milan, Ella R, Eliza, and Nellie: Shoutout to Milan, Ella R, Eliza and Nellie, we are so impressed by the patience and dedication they bring to their writing. They consistently take the time to formulate and develop their ideas, always giving their absolute best effort. Ka Pai for your mahi.

Freddie: Shoutout to Freddie. You work so hard practicing your math strategies and are always the first to help pack away the equipment. Ka rawe, keep up the awesome effort!

Sid: Thank you for answering all my pātai(questions) about the routines your rōpū has in Literacy and for reminding me where to find the resources. This was all before the school bell had even rung to start our day! It made my morning a lot smoother and meant that the other ākonga also had a seamless morning. I really appreciate your help!

Able: Ngā mihi nui for your support to other students in our literacy group. You are reliable and have shown some real kaitiakitanga (leadership) Keep it up!

Talia, Kailey, Jordan, and Sedna: Well done for always being prepared for class and ready to learn.

Ryker: Thank you for supporting other tamariki, particularly one of our new ākonga and younger tamariki in tuakana teina group.

Truman: It has been awesome to see the effort and efficiency you have put into solving your fraction maths work. Ka Rawe Truman!

Aiden: We appreciate all the questions you ask and your contributions to our class discussions. It is great to see you share your knowledge with others. Ka pai Aiden!

Seb: Te Rito kaiako have noticed you standing out recently. You are being an amazing leader, making sure to demonstrate the right thing to do. You are making great choices, and should be really proud of yourself, Seb!

Jolin: You were a really kind friend to someone who was hurt. You went out of your way to help them, and make sure they were feeling okay. We are lucky to have someone so caring in Te Rito Rōpū.

Zachary: You have led by example in your reading sessions by offering your opinions first, encouraging and assisting your peers to contribute in small group discussions, and adding to and challenging others’ ideas with sensitivity.

Stefan: We have noticed how you are always following the instructions and demonstrating what the right thing is to do. Others are following your lead. Keep it up, Stefan.

Astrid: It has been wonderful to see you helping another child. You are so kind that you wait for them to finish eating to play with them. You also ask if you can buddy up with them in learning time as well. What an amazing friend.
