Tough Guy Gal Challenge
Thursday 25th May saw 24 adventurous ākonga from Amesbury take to the muddy banks of Wainuiomata.
The highly anticipated nation-wide Tough Guy Gal Challenge finally rolled around for our Years 3-6 students who were full of excitement and nerves.
Tamariki were happy to wade through waste-deep water and stretches of mud over a distance of either 1.5km or 3km. There were many obstacles to climb and hills to traverse before reaching the finish line in the delightful sunshine.
Although the kids were wet and covered in mud by the end, they were elated to get over the line and collect their finishers medal, certificate and Hell’s pizza voucher.
A selection of photographs from the day is available to view here.
We anticipate that Amesbury will enter this fun event again next year. Keep your eyes on the digest towards the end of the school year for an update.
Amesbury wishes to extend their gratitude to the parents who so kindly transported the tamariki to Camp Wainui and supported them on the day. A special word of thanks to Jack Mayer who collected the race bibs on behalf of the school and ensured everything went smoothly at the venue.
Kind regards,
