Inter Zone Success
Amesbury had 6 athletes travel to compete in the recent InterZone Cross Country event.
Following qualification at the highly competitive Northern Zone Cross Country last month, a mix of male and female runners from Amesbury attended this week's meet at MacAlister Park.
Athletes travelled with their whānau across town on Tuesday 13th June and were faced with the endurance challenge combined with mud, tarmac and soft grass across the course. The air was crisp and dry and the winter sunshine made for perfect running conditions on the day.
Athletes from all zones across Te Whanganui-a-Tara (Wellington) were in attendance and hoping for one of the fiercely sought after top 10 finishing spots. The next round event will be held at the Solway Showgrounds in Masterton on Tuesday 27th June.
Congratulations to the following ākonga for making it this far in the competition and representing our Kura with such determination.
Basti (3rd) - Year 4
Ruby K (6th) & Josh (17th) - Year 5
Heidi (31st), Ignacio (15th), Luca B (28th) - Year 6
Our entire school whānau would like to wish Basti F and Ruby K all the best as they go on to the regional event later this month. Basti finished 3rd overall in the Y4 boys race while Ruby finished 6th in the Y5 girls last Tuesday. We hope you can carry your good form through to the next round. Best of luck!
Warm regards,
Eilís (Sports Coordinator)
