Year 3/4 Camp: Palm Grove Notice #2 2019

An update about the Year 3/4 camp to Palm Grove.

Preparations are in full swing for our year 3 and 4 camp to Palm Grove. Please read below for the latest camp updates.

Parent helpers:

Thank you to everyone who has offered to help with our camp to Palm Grove. We have now confirmed our overnight helpers. We are still looking for helpers for the Ngā Manu (6th December) part of our camp. If you received an email confirming that we need your help for Ngā Manu, please confirm whether you are still able to help.

Helping on this day will include:

10:15am:   Meet us at Ngā Manu (you will need to make your own way there)

10:30am - 1:45pm:   Activities and exploring at Ngā Manu in small groups

2:00pm:   Students head back to school on the bus

Cost:

The total cost of the camp this year is $120.00, which includes all coach transport, dinner on Thursday evening, accommodation, breakfast and packed lunch on Friday, activities at Palm Grove camp, and entry to Ngā Manu Reserve.

Costs this year are higher than in previous years due to the increased costs of transportation and accommodation. We will continue to look at ways that we can keep these costs down.

Payment:

Invoices for this camp will be added to student accounts in the online shop by Tuesday 29th October. Payment must be made by Friday 22nd November to enable your child(ren) to attend.

Brief camp outline:

Thursday 5th December:

8:30 - 9:00am:   Students arrive at school with their gear.

9:15am:   Students get on the bus

10:30am:   Arrive at camp, morning tea, set up cabins

11:30am - 4:00pm:   Camp activity rotations

4:00pm:   Camp games

5:00pm:   Dinner

6:00pm:   Evening camp activities

Friday 6th December

7:00 - 10:00am:   Preparing for the day: Breakfast, preparing lunch, tidying and cleaning camp spaces, games.

10:00am:   Depart to Ngā Manu Reserve

10:30 - 1:30pm:   Exploring and activities at Ngā Manu Reserve

3:00pm:   Arrive back at school

Other information:

  • A camp gear list will come home a week before camp. Please be aware that students will need to bring a sleeping bag and light/torch.

  • Year 4 students will be responsible for bringing a small container of baking or fruit to share.

  • Payment must be made by Friday 22nd November to enable your child to attend.
