Junior Invitational Cross Country 2021

Amesbury hosted the Northern Zone Junior Invitational Cross Country event this year on Thursday the 3rd of June.

After not being able to make this event happen last year due to Covid 19, we were really excited to be able to host it once again this year.

We had 11 very eager Northern Zone schools who registered to participate in this event. and including the Amesbury athletes, a total of over 300 athletes participated on this day! The weather was just what the doctor ordered. We had a beautiful sunny day with hardly any wind, which made this an awesome day of cross country for everyone involved.

The athletes from all the schools started arriving at 9:15 and we were ready to start at 9:45.  Everyone involved was set on having a really great day. There was an exciting buzz on the courts where the athletes gathered to get ready for the first race. All athletes had a warm up session before moving across to the starting line. It was great to see the enthusiasm and determination of the participating athletes, the teachers from various schools and all the spectators who supported and encouraged them along the way.

We are super proud of our Amesbury team who represented us at this event. Well done to the team:

Yr 3 Boys - Josh, James, Jayden, Yiqi and Ethan

Yr 3 Girls - Aanya, Ellie, Jade, Lina and Leah

Yr 2 Boys - Basti, Lachlan, Dylan, Finn and Ethan

Yr 2 Girls - Miesha, Emily, Charlotte PL and Grace

Yr 1 Boys - Vedant, Luca, Kyle, Zachary and Brandon

Yr 1 Girls - Angela, Sienna, Bella, Karlien and Nurah

A special shoutout to Basti who claimed the 3rd place for the year 2 boys, and Vedant who grabbed the 3rd place for the year 1 boys. We are so proud of you.

A big thank you to all the students who were runners and assistants, and also the  teachers, in particular Amaria, Cam, Kalesha, Demelza and Zelda who all played their part in a myriad of ways to make sure that the event went as planned, with a special mention to Gail and  Navy  who ensured that everyone was fed at the sausage sizzle, not forgetting Rachel and Brian who made sure everything was ready for setup on the day. Without you the day would not have been possible.
