Cyber Safety Evening

Our cluster of local schools (our Kāhui Ako) is hosting a cyber safety evening with facilitators Zareen and Rob Cope. They will run a two hour presentation aimed at helping parents to keep their tamariki safe online.

Rob & Zareen are authors (both having authored books in the mental health space) and filmmakers. They were asked to screen the documentary in Parliament last year and have  featured on The Breakfast Show in NZ and been interviewed by several other media outlets in different countries, including having the film screened at a film festival in the USA.  Rob and Zareen have also worked with the Department of Internal Affairs and OCEANZ (Online Child Exploitation Across New Zealand team).

To give you a taste of who Rob and Zareen are and the questions they had about online safety, here is the trailer for their film. They will not be showing the film in the presentation, but they will cover some of this content.

This cyber safety presentation will be really useful for you if you have questions or wonderings about keeping your tamariki safe online, or if you would like to know a bit more about the potential dangers for tamariki and rangatahi (youth) in online spaces.

The evening presentation will be shown twice - it will be the same presentation on both evenings. Key details:

- Date and time: Tuesday 7th and Wednesday 8th June, 7 - 9pm

- Location: Rāroa Intermediate School Hall

- Cost: Free for parents and staff (cost is covered by our Kāhui Ako cluster of schools)

- Limited spaces: Each school has 70 spaces across the two evenings for parents and staff.  Bookings are limited to 2 places per family

- How to book: Complete this form as soon as possible. Limit of two places per family. Bookings will be taken on a first come, first served basis - the first 70 bookings will be allocated spaces, and others will then be placed on a waiting list.

- Allocated spaces: If you are one of the first 70 people to book, we will let you know and  send you a ticket.

If you have any further questions about this cyber safety evening, please email or chat with Jenny King, one of our two associate principals - jenny.king@amesbury.school.nz
