Amesbury Digest - 3 April 2019

It would appear from the lack of attachments to this week's Amesbury Digest that nothing has happened at school and everybody has gone into hibernation. Although hibernation probably isn't a bad idea at the moment given the drop in temperature combined with Daylight Saving ending this coming weekend. However, I digress ....

With the end of term fast approaching - Friday 12 April 2019 - teachers have, in addition to their usual workload, been preparing for Student Conferences to be held next week - Wednesday 10 & Thursday 11 April. Those dates are fast approaching so if you haven't done so already please sign up to attend when students are able discuss their learning with their parents and one of their teachers, and set learning goals.

Last Tuesday was the school's Open Morning where parents had the opportunity to spend time in the "classroom" observing how teaching happens at Amesbury School. It was eye-opening for some and clearly a valuable opportunity to see it in action.

Also last week a number of parents came along to the Co-curricular Open Days to observe their children's co-curricular lessons whether it was music, speech & drama, or gymnastics. Parent's faces rightfully showed pride in their child's progress and most took the opportunity to have a brief chat with the teachers.

Talking of co-curricular activities, we will be expanding the range of classes next term and we'll also be looking for parents/students suggestions for other classes that they would like to participate in. more about that later but have a think about it in the meantime.

Another thing to think about is whether you are interested in putting your name forward for the Board of Trustees.

In the meantime, have a wonderful week.
