Amesbury School swimming sports

The Amesbury Swimming Sports were held at Tawa Public Pool Tuesday 28th April

The swimming sports were fabulous. It was great to see the number of students who really challenged themselves in the races they entered. Some students who had never swum a length, swam length races and others who had struggled to swim a length previously, swam two this time. We were really proud of all our students and the amazing effort they put in.

A big thanks to those who organised the swimming sports and to all the helpers who contributed to its success.

Netball team wins first game

The year 5/6 Amesbury School netball team won its first game of the season in fine style.

I attended this game as Grandma of my grandson, Ryan, who was not only playing his first game of netball but was probably playing the first game of netball ever by a Murrihy. Football and athletics have tended to be our thing. However, I was struck by the skill of the game and, in particular, with the intelligence with which the Amesbury team played the game. They have obviously been well coached over the years and have developed a high level of skill. A big thanks to our referee, Marie  and coach, Debbie.

Sorry about the lack of photos — as I said, I was going as Grandma and only took a couple of photos of Ryan. Next time I will take photos of everyone!

A hearty congratulations to the whole team which played very well indeed!
