Amesbury School

Kia ora koutou

What a crazy couple of weeks since I last wrote for the digest! I wonder if it has been like that for you too - not a moment to breathe?

Next week is a big week for the school - a team of three reviewers from the Education Review Office will be spending a few days here carrying out their review of our school.

From January 2016, ERO's reviews have focused on Māori student achievement. Their main evaluative question is: How effectively does this school respond to Māori students whose learning and achievement needs acceleration? However, ERO have acknowledged that with only a small number of Maori students, the evaluative question for Amesbury School will be more general: How effectively does this school respond to students whose learning and achievement needs acceleration?

ERO reviewers will be talking with us about how we identify and respond to students whose progress needs acceleration. They will want to understand how our planning, implementation and review processes help us improve teaching practice to accelerate students’ progress.

ERO arrive at 10.30am, Monday 27th June. We will be putting on a powhiri to welcome them to the school. Parents are most welcome to attend the powhiri.

It has been three years (almost to the day) since ERO reviewers last visited. We are very pleased that Ann Brouwer who was on the last review team is returning and will lead the review.

We are looking forward to having the opportunity to share our learning journey with ERO next week.

Have a great weekend! Oh... the weather forecast is not looking promising. A weekend inside perhaps.

Nga mihi nui and take care.

Lesley
