Koru Hub EOTC Week

The end of year camps are fast approaching!

All children in Koru Hub will be split into three equal groups. Each group will spend the day at all of the venues set out in the following paragraph on either Tuesday 1st December, Wednesday 2nd December or Thursday 3rd December.

They will spend the morning at the Police Museum in Papakowhai where we will learn about fingerprinting and have time to complete the junior detective challenge trail in the gallery. We will then head to Awesome Bounce in Porirua, for the afternoon, where the children will have access to the bouncy castles and trampolines.

On Thursday 3rd December, Koru Hub will have an overnight camp at school. Those students staying over will return to school at 5pm (in mufti) with their gear. We will have a shared dinner altogether and then sleep overnight in the hub.  Harakeke Hub will also be sleeping over at school that night and siblings can sleep in the same space.

On Friday we will have a shared breakfast and pack up the hub. The children who do not stay overnight can arrive back at school from 8:30am. From 9am there will be a rotation day at school for everyone. All children can wear mufti for the day.

Gear

Mufti clothes (for Friday), named drink bottle, named plastic bowl (dessert bowl), fork and spoon, toiletries, PJ’s, bed roll, pillow, sleeping bag, any medication, soft toy if required.

Cost

The cost of the camp will be $34 per student. This includes the day trip, dinner on Thursday, and breakfast, morning tea and lunch on Friday.

If you do not want your child to take part in the overnight stay, they will still take part in the daytime activities. The cost for this will be $21. If your child changes their mind and wants to stay overnight, we will not be able to make changes to this from Friday of Week 6 (20th November).

We will be asking all students to bring their own morning tea and lunch on Thursday, as usual. If your child is not staying overnight, they will also need to bring their morning tea and lunch on Friday.

Invoices for the cost of this camp will be added to your account in the online shop and payment will need to be made by 4pm Friday 20th November .

Consent and Parent Help

Here is the link to our camp consent form. Please complete this form for your child/ren by Monday 9th of November (if you have more than one child in Koru, please fill in a separate form for each).

As always, some parent help is needed, and greatly appreciated, for this activity day/camp to go ahead.

We will need some additional help with supervision on the day trip and for the overnight stay at school. We also know that it can be a big step for year 0-2 children to stay overnight, so we do have extra spaces for some parents to stay with their child. We may not be able to accept all offers of help. There is a section on the consent form to fill in if you are able to help with any part of the camp. All parents staying overnight will be required to undergo NZ police vetting.

Please don't hesitate to contact your child’s whānau teacher with any questions about the camp.

Warm regards,

Koru Team
