BOT Elections: Just a quick editorial today. Firstly, I want to congratulate and thank all of the candidates who stood for the recent Board of Trustees’ election. It takes quite a lot of courage to put oneself out into the public arena in this way. Unfortunately, with eight candidates standing, not all candidates were able to join the Board. So a big thank you to Vijay Chandrashekar for his recent service to the school as a trustee and we are sorry that you will not be continuing. Thanks to Sam Bousaab and Emmanuel Jo for standing, and we wish you all the best. Congratulations to John Bunting who was returned after many years of service as a Trustee and more recently as Board Chair. Congratulations to David Robiony-Rogers who was returned for his second term as a Trustee. Big congratulations to Sarah Gailitis, Sophie Scott and Crystal Shan for their success in being voted onto the Board of Trustees for the first time. I look forward to working with you more closely. Finally, I would like to farewell David Waters who has been involved in the school as a Trustee since the school was just an idea in the minister’s mind back in 2009. We will thank him for his many years of exemplary service to the school at the Learning Celebration at the end of this term. And, farewell to Jennifer Jones who stood down at these elections. She brought a really useful perspective to Board meetings that will be missed. Wishing you all the best, Jen.
Uniform: Just a reminder that we do have a school uniform and it is compulsory. I have noticed that an increasing number of students are not wearing the full school uniform and many are wearing non-uniform items with their uniform. We are starting to address this with students, so I wanted to make parents aware that wearing the correct uniform is a requirement. The following is compulsory:
*In terms 2 and 3 students are required to have a fleece. While a raincoat or jacket is acceptable to wear on top of a fleece on the way to school and when it is wet and particularly cold at break times. However, students will not be allowed to wear them instead of a fleece.
*For head wear, only a plain black beanie or the black school beanie is acceptable
*Plain black or plain grey (only) long sleeved tops may be worn under polo shirts.
*Trousers, skirts, skorts or shorts may be worn but they must be plain black.
*Only the school polos may be worn.
I look forward to seeing all students wearing the correct uniform.
Car park safety: I have put out an article to remind people of car park pick up and drop off expectations. However, it can be summarised by reminding people to be safe and courteous at all times, especially when it is is wet weather.
