Amesbury Digest - 29th June 2020

Kia ora koutou,

We are now entering into the final week of what seems like a very long Term 2! It has been a term like no other, and I would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thanks to all of our staff who have worked tirelessly during the nationwide rāhui and throughout all alert levels to maintain safety, care and learning for all students. It has required flexibility, much thought and attention to detail, and a high level of care, and I am very proud of what they have achieved. I would also like to thank all of our students, parents and whānau for working so well together during this very strange and difficult time. We have all had to take on new roles, work and learn in new ways, and show resilience, perseverance and kindness to get through together. As our Prime Minister has said often, our team of 5 million worked well together to achieve success.

It is now most definitely time to take some time to rest and recharge. I hope you all have a chance to spend some family time together and take advantage of the freedom alert level 1 now brings. I will also be encouraging our staff to do the same.

Upcoming events in the final week of term

Unfortunately, the weather is not looking good for our school cross country this week. We will run the event if at all possible, but in the case of persistent rain we will postpone until Thursday. However, the weather does not look good at this point for Thursday, either! We will send a text alert on Tuesday morning to let people know if the event is going ahead or not. Handily, the cross country is being held at school, so it is easy to dash inside if rain appears.

Have a lovely last week of term, and enjoy the rest and change of pace that the school break hopefully brings.

Ngā mihi nui,

Urs Cunningham (Acting Principal) and John Bunting (BoT Chairperson)
