Congratulations to all our tamariki who participated in the Northern Zone Cross Country on Thursday 27 May 2021.

We are super proud to have entered 30 athletes, ranging from year 4 to 6 who participated in the Northern Zone event this year.

We were fortunate to have had perfect cross country weather on this day. There was a buzz of excitement on the bus on Thursday, going to Grenada North Park. We arrived at the venue just after noon, and our tamariki were up for the challenge, ready to race.

It was awesome to see the enthusiasm and determination with which all our tamariki participated.  They excitedly lined up for the warm-up and gave it their all, in each of the races. Ka pai to you all. (Well done.) He tino pai hoki koe. (You're the best.)

A highlight of the day was certainly when Sofia sped past about 50 other athletes to grab the top spot for the year 4 girls. Declan also did us very proud by grabbing the 9th spot for the year 4 boys.

A huge thank you to all our whānau who were there to act as marshals and also support and cheer on our athletes during their races.

Arriving back at school just before 3pm our tamariki, although a little tired, still bubbled with excited discussions on the great day of cross country we all experienced.

Congratulations to the following two athletes who made it through, and will be representing Amesbury School at the Inter-Zone Cross Country Event:

Year 4 Girls - Sofia

Year 4 Boys - Declan
