Amesbury School

Kia ora koutou,

We would like to congratulate our two ākonga (students) who represented Amesbury School so well at the Inter Zone Cross Country competition last Tuesday. Sofia won her race resoundingly, beating all other year 4 girls from schools across Wellington. Declan came15th in his race out of all year 4 boys across the region. We are so pleased for both of them, and very proud of their fantastic achievements. Sofia will now go on to represent Wellington in the Regional Cross Country competition. Kia pai hoki korua - well done to the two of you.

New build update

We would like to update you on progress with the new build and our work with the Ministry of Education to resolve this. The Minister of Education previously announced the expansion at Amesbury School to include space for an additional 200 ākonga. Although the redevelopment project is moving slower than we initially expected, we want to assure you that we are working with the Ministry to advance this project as quickly as possible.

The project is in the final stages of work to appoint a main contractor. After this is completed, we hope to be able to share images of the new school, as well as indicative timeframes. This can be a lengthy process and a reason for the delay in the project, as each contractor quote must be considered. At this stage, we are optimistic that work will start on site in August. We know that our community is just as excited as we are for the completion of our school next year.

We will continue to share updates about the project as we receive them. We realise that change can be unsettling and thank you for all your support and understanding during this exciting period.
