Upcoming Year 6 Intermediate Orientations

In this article, you will find information about the Year 6 orientation for Newlands (26 June) and Raroa (30 July).

To help students (and parents) make the decision about which intermediate to attend next year, both Newlands and Raroa are running an orientation day for Year 6s. During the orientation, students will have a guided tour of the school, an opportunity to join in with normal class learning and a chance to see what other activities each school offers. If you have already decided on an intermediate, your child does not have to come on either trip. They will be able to stay at school to continue with their learning tasks. However, please note that in previous years, most students have attended both orientation days so your child may be one of only a few staying back at school.

A Taste of Newlands Intermediate Morning

The Newlands orientation morning is coming up at the end of this term on Friday 26 June (Week 11). All Year 6 students will need to meet in the library by 8:30am so we can be on the bus and ready to leave at 9:00am. We will make sure the screen in the library is set up so students can sign in. Students will then spend the morning exploring Newlands Intermediate and leave on the bus at 12:30pm.

A couple of important notes:

*We have rearranged co-curricular for Year 6 students on this Friday so that they will not miss a lesson.

*Newlands Intermediate will provide morning tea for students. However, if your child has special dietary requirements, you may like to send them along with their own morning tea.

*Students will have lunch once they have arrived back at school.

*Students will need to bring a bag with their lunchbox and drink bottle. They will also need their school fleece and appropriate footwear for walking around. We also recommend packing a rain jacket just in case.

A Day at Raroa

The Raroa orientation day is happening on Thursday 30 July (Week 2 Term 3). All Year 6 students will need to meet in the library at 8:30am so that we can be on the bus and ready to leave at 9:00am. We will make sure the screen in the library is set up so students can sign in. Students will then spend the day at Raroa Intermediate and will leave on the bus at 2:00pm.

A couple of important notes:

*As students will be at Raroa for the whole day, they will need enough food for morning tea and lunch. Please feel free to pack extra food as we notice students are always more hungry when we are out on a trip.

*Students will need to bring a bag with their lunchbox and drink bottle. They will also need their school fleece and appropriate footwear for walking around. We also recommend packing a rain jacket just in case.
