Governance—what is fruitful stewardship: Christian Savings annual Church and Charities Conference

More information here.

Rev. Frank Ritchie will take a big picture view of what stewardship might look like for different churches and how this ties in with the season of the church in New Zealand.

Kirsten Patterson (CEO of Institute of Directors) will provide an expert viewpoint around what governance is all about, key responsibilities and how best practice might look in a church or charity context.

Ven. Dr Lyndon Drake has recently finished his doctoral studies on economic issues in the scriptures. He will share a framework for setting stewardship goals and measuring outcomes from a biblical point of view, drawing on parallels from his experience in the Māori church and the concept of kaitiakitanga.

Jenny Collings who is a National Director of Christian Medical Fellowship of NZ will share about people being the most important asset in a church or charity. Working with employees or volunteers carries significant duties with respect to health and safety, employment, and mental health. How should a governance board ensure that the people of their organisation are being treated in the right way?

Steven Moe is one of New Zealand’s leading legal experts on charities. He will take us through the key questions we should be asking about the structure of our organisations both existing and for new initiatives. He will also introduce the “Churches Risk Checklist” which highlights key areas for Churches to have on their radar to stay safe legally.
