Come and See What Happens in Your Local Church

At St John's Leeston, we are trialling a new form on service on the 2nd Sunday of the month.

If you haven't been to an Anglican service in a while (or maybe never been to one), you may be interested to drop in. It is a service designed to have something for everyone – some churches call it an intergenerational service, or a family service. There are more traditional hymns along with well-known worship songs, stories and activities for young and young-at-heart, and a shortened, more informal service of thanksgiving and Eucharist.

Other services are happening in the next two months as we move through the period we call Lent towards the celebration of Easter. On Wednesdays, the usual 10am Eucharist will have a guest preacher (most travelling here from Christchurch), and on our Facebook page we will be posting an online Study of the Gospel of Mark.

Easter will have the services of Holy Week as we move towards the sacrifice of Christ known as Good Friday. You may particularly find spiritual feeding at the Maundy Thursday Tenebrae service, or Stations of the Cross on Good Friday. There is a prayer group meeting on the last Wednesday of every month – including Holy Week, and at Easter there will be the Festal Service of Easter Day.

We love to see visitors, whether you are just looking to see what is happening, or a looking for a church that meets your current spiritual needs. Don't forget there is a service somewhere each Sunday of the month – but with 5 churches (and 6 some months) you have to check our Facebook page or the Ellesmere Echo list of services to see where we are.

I am always willing to chat (especially in the Leeston Coffee Company on Mondays, 10.15-11.15am. Drop by and say hello.
