Come and learn about God, New Zealand, and yourself.

7pm - 9pm Mondays, Feb 19 & 26, Mar 4 & 11 at Fendall Hall, St Barnabas Fendalton, $40 registration by Mon, 12 Feb 2024.

God has always been in Aotearoa New Zealand, moving through Māori, non-Māori, and the Treaty. This course is a place to learn about that, and to open ourselves up to be able to more effectively love our neighbours.

After a successful set of workshops last year, Antony Nihoniho returns to continue the dive into New Zealand history, Māori worldviews, and where God fits amongst all of that.

The 2023 workshops were well attended and well received. Here is some of the feedback from participants:

"Not something to be feared as Pākehā, but a wonderful opportunity to share."

"It was challenging to acknowledge the injustices against Māori."

"Wonderful to learn about Christian intentions for the Treaty as a covenant."

This course is open to all, and is suitable whether you came to last year's sessions or not. For those who were there last year, new content has been added providing more depth and new learning.

Topics include:

  • Aotearoa - footprints of God
  • The Arrival of Pakeha
  • New Zealand - a new society
  • God’s Unrelenting Hope

The course runs on Monday nights for four weeks, beginning Monday, 19 Feb. There is a $40 cost for the course. Please register by Monday, 12 Feb at office@stbarnabas.org.nz

This really is an exciting opportunity to learn about things in a new way so we really can love our neighbours well, and be the people of reconciliation Christ calls us to be. Inevitably, as we enter these spaces, we also find that we learn a lot about ourselves too.

Nau mai, haere mai (All welcome, come).
