Water Ski Racer Wins Bronze, Sets Course for Epic Australian Event

Aquinas College —

Congratulations to Y10 student, Nikita Alloway, who scored a third placing in the recent Bridge to Bridge - NZ’s premier water skiing race. She and her ski partner won bronze in the women’s open 2-Up race (two skiers towed by one boat.) The annual event is raced on the Waikato River and attracts NZ and Australia’s top skiers.

Nikita has been water ski racing (also known as drag skiing) for almost five years and is a North Island champion. Currently, her fastest speed is 70mph but she’s working hard to crack 80mph.

She’s now training for Australia’s biggest water ski race, the Southern 80. The epic race sees boats tow skiers as fast as they can along an 80km stretch of the Murray River with 121 bends. Truly amazing Nikita!
