Placing Gives Aquinas Automatic Entry into 2024 Gillette Cup

Aquinas College —

The Aquinas 1st XI boys’ cricket team is officially the fifth-best school in the upper North Island! The lads bet Whangarei Boys’ High School by 83 runs to clinch fifth place in the Gillette Cup’s Northern District tournament, which does not include Auckland.

Captain Daniel Coster (Yr 13) led the batting attack, scoring 42 runs off 65 balls, while Rico Adsett (Yr 11) piloted the bowling attack, claiming two wickets and two LBWs. Well done team — a fantastic finish to the tournament!

The outcome guarantees the team automatic qualification to the 2024 tournament which is a huge advantage for next season’s Aquinas side.

The tournament got off to a wet start for the team, with Aquinas' first game rained off, which meant pool seedings were decided on run rates. Aquinas finished third in its pool, ahead of Mount Maunganui College. A great effort lads!
