Students Score Highly at Chanel Shield Contest
Aquinas capped off a strong performance at the annual Chanel Shield Challenge, securing several podium places against tough competition.
Fourteen Aquinas students from Years 10-13 took part in the annual contest between Hamilton Diocese colleges, which this year was hosted by Aquinas. They competed in speeches, poetry, drama and debating during the two-day Aug 18 to 19 event.
Year 13’s Finley Jones won the Senior Poetry section, Zoe Sherlock (Yr 12) was first in the Senior Speech category, Beth Mosley (Yr 11) achieved third place in the Maori Perspective Speech, and Isla Morrison (Yr 10) placed third in the Junior Bible Reading.
The Aquinas Debating Team comprised of Noah Ball and Monique Faire (Yr 11) and Charlotte Mitchell (Yr 13) finished an impressive second place to John Paul College. The overall Chanel Shield Challenge winner was St John’s College. Congratulations to all involved.
