Hunter Sands Swims 40km for World Vision

Aquinas College —

We’re proudly singing the praise of Year 11 swimmer Hunter Sands for his remarkable fundraising achievement of swimming an incredible 40 kilometers in 40 hours.

He kick-started the long-distance swim last month as part of the World Vision 40 Hour Challenge. His efforts have so far raised $1,355 to help children in Malawi access clean water.

Hunter swam the 40km at his swim club, Liz Van Weile Aquatics. It took about 12 hours of swimming — from 4.30 pm Friday, June 16 to 12.30 pm Sunday, June 18 — to complete the mammoth task.

A huge round of Aquinas applause to you Hunter! Your selfless dedication, let alone your swimming prowess, is an inspiration to all.
