Rowers Gain Good Experience at Lake Karapiro

Aquinas College —

A round of applause for our five novice rowers who recently competed at the North Island Secondary School Rowing Champs, taking on windy conditions and experienced rowers.

Christian Tipi, Patrick Nelis and Hunter Waites (all Year 10/U15) rowed well at Lake Karapiro despite the fast competition and having to row up a level in the U16s for some races.

Patrick and Christian placed second in the B final of the U15 double sculls, and Patrick also came fifth in the C final of the U16 single sculls. Christian and Hunter, who turned 14 the day he competed, were sixth in their U16 double sculls heat. Awesome results for such young rowers! We can’t wait to see their progress next season…
