Aquinas Cricketers Take On UK Clubs in ANZAC Tour

Aquinas College —

We’re giving a shout-out to senior school cricketers Rico Adsett and Bradley Muller who recently travelled to the UK with an invitational ANZAC U18 team to take on seven UK clubs.

Rico (Yr 11) and Bradley (Yr 13) were among four Kiwis and 9 Australians aged 13 to 19 selected for the seven-match tour last term. They won five of the six games played against clubs in London, Oxford, Liverpool, Manchester, Cardiff and Bath. Among them was the prestigious Spencer Cricket Club which is the Northern Hemisphere’s largest and has an impressive eight cricket grounds.

The 16-day trip included memorable sightseeing trips such as Stonehenge, a Beatles Tour, and visits to all of the Premier League Football Stadiums including Old Trafford.

Now gearing up for the next cricket season, Rico is hoping to make the Northern Districts U17 side and the U15 BOP representative team. The 15-year-old has won BOP or Western BOP selection each year since becoming age-eligible.

Rico was also tapped to play with the NZ Croatia cricket team in February. He and his older brother, Luca, were among players from all over NZ selected to play against the Kaimai Cricket Club and Seddon Cricket Club at the Bay Oval. NZ Croatia won both games, with Rico picking up man of the match for his bowling and batting efforts against Kaimai.
