Our international students got the adrenalin pumping with a laser tag and drift-kart adventure earlier this month. Here’s what they had to say…

Olivia

This term's International trip was a journey that promised a perfect blend of speed, strategy and serenity.

We were divided into 2 large groups and we started with laser tag. I was in the red team and looked forward to joining my group on the battlefield, utilising the environment and tactics to avoid attacks while looking for opportunities to launch counterattacks. Yes, the red team won!

Soon after we hit the indoor track & did some drift karting. This was my first time doing this. I had rally raced when I was small and played on racing karts, so I think I adapted quickly. I have to admit my legs and arms were sore the next day.

We had lunch on the beach and it was just perfect and such a calm way to finish the day. It was so much fun, I can’t wait for the next international trip.

Yuna:

We went drift karting and played survival games for our International trip. I also played air hockey, it's been a long time since I've played that game, the day was a lot of fun. We went to the beach too and it was very beautiful. I want to go again.

Ryan:

First of all I want to thank the teachers who came to the trip to help us out. If you weren't here I think it would have been hard to go through all the cool activities. So thank you very much. My favourite part of the trip is when we did the laser tag. I loved when I got the other person's laser and when I terminated them. I was very happy to see my name at the top of the board. Also, I really liked drift karting too. I loved when we banged to each other and the vibration of the kart when I sped the kart up. It felt like I was actually in a race. Beyond that, I liked playing basketball at break with my other friends (I think I scored the most over there). When we arrived at the beach ate lunch. I enjoyed talking with the other students. I really really enjoyed the trip, thank you for making this amazing event for us. Hope I can do these events again!!!

Yui:

First of all thank you for taking us to this international trip. I really enjoyed the International trip. We did drift trikes and laser tag. I loved laser tag too but actually I loved drift trikes most I think. Because I drove toy cars when I was a child and this reminds me of the good memories when I was young. Gio is my new friend. I talked with her also on athletics day for the first time but we are in different years so we don't have enough time to talk to each other. So this time we talked a lot and became good friends. I'd love to do these activities again as I really enjoyed it.

Takumi:

I enjoyed eating lunch and playing on the beach with my friends. The ocean was so beautiful, and eating my sandwiches by the sea especially felt delicious. It also was a chance to get to know other international students no matter what year level they were in, and I felt like I could deepen friendships a bit. It became a great experience for me, as I like to spend time with my friends.

Marin:

Drift karting was really fun!!! I enjoyed this the most. We went to the beach to eat lunch and it was my second time to go the beach near the Mount. We found many kinds of beautiful shells. It was a relaxing lunchtime. I really enjoyed the experience and everything was a new experience for me. I also talked to students that I don't usually talk to and made some new friends too. I would like to go there again someday.

Seokhyeon:

On our International trip this term we went to do drift karting and laser tag and I went with Takumi, Jihwong, Hirotaka, Wooseong, and lion. We did the funniest laser tag first. Me and Takumi were on the same team. In the last round, It was a free-for-all all and I even came 4th! Drift karting was also so much fun and going sideways.

Afterwards, we went to the beach and I made a piece of art. It was made from some driftwood that I found and it now has many languages on it because we all wrote one word with a pen onto it. I was very proud of this artwork.

Hirotaka:

On our international trip there were many activities. There were two things that really made me excited. First, we played laser tag where we used laser guns and played with team mates so I was excited. In the first game I didn't get any points. In the second game, I learned how to aim and I got 31 points and got 1st prize! Laser tag was followed by drift karting. It was so difficult for me, I had many accidents but I kept going. I also played air hockey 3 times, I was confident in my reflexes so I could win all games.

I really enjoyed all of the day and talking to my friends during the trip. This activity is definitely my best memory. Thank you for inviting me on this trip.

Yuzuha:

... I exercised a lot and when I woke up this morning, my legs and arms were very sore! However, it was one of my best memories in NZ. I am very much looking forward to the next International trip!
