Hats Off to Year 7 and 8 Speech Contest Winners
A round of applause for our Year 7 and 8 speech competition winners! Evelyn Strange (Yr 7) and Will Etherington (Yr 8) each won first place with their persuasive speeches about a leader in history.
Evelyn discussed the leadership qualities of NZ suffragist, Kate Sheppard, while Will focused on Holocaust survivor Eddie Jaku. Both now advance to the South Cluster Speech Competition.
Ten Year 7 finalists and 8 from Year 8 performed their speeches for their peers during judging on Monday (Aug. 12). Caitlin Schofield placed second in Year 7 followed by Naomi Reid. The Year 8 runners-up were Emmy Sowerby and Vanessa Moncrieff.
