Musicians Set For Cambridge Festival

Aquinas College —

The Aquinas Big Band and Orchestra are fine-tuning their performances for next week’s ITM Festival, one of the most anticipated music events of the year.

An annual highlight for music students and teachers alike, the Waikato ITM Band and Orchestra Festival will be held at the Raleigh Street Christian Centre in Cambridge on Friday, September 9. It’s an exciting one-day music festival where high school students, their orchestras, and other instrumental ensembles from schools across the region meet to perform in front of their peers.

Our AC Big Band and AC Orchestra will perform twice throughout the day, showcasing the repertoire they have been working hard on throughout the year

The ITM event embraces a wide range of groups and musical traditions that is amazing to watch as well as partake in. Professional and sympathetic adjudicators provide constructive feedback and give out awards for outstanding performances. All the best to our Aquinas musicians.

Meantime, a round of applause for the Aquinas College Junior Choir which performed at last night’s 66th Tauranga Primary School Music Festival. The August 30 event at Baycourt focused on Songs of Aotearoa and was a night dedicated to the incredible culture of New Zealand. Primary and intermediate schools from throughout the area took part, including our 15-member junior choir.

As part of music leadership, Y12 student Anna Tustin has been mentoring the junior choir this year. She conducted the choir performance at Baycourt last night and did an outstanding job.
